Junior Camp Counselors

Responsibilities:
• Supervise group of 4-9 year olds (grades K-4) to our campgrounds, on day trips, and in some cases, on 2-day overnight trips.
• Participate enthusiastically in all camp events.
• Organize and direct campground activities (swim, sports, music, arts & crafts, etc.)
• Serve lunch and snacks.
• Supervise campers on buses.
• Attend all staff meetings and training.

Qualifications:
Senior Counselor - 20+ years old
Junior Counselor - 17+ years old
CIT (Counselor in Training) - 15-16 years old*

All staff must be available for work every day of camp, from late June until mid August, plus mandatory orientation meetings prior to camp (all dates TBA). Previous teaching or camp experience a plus.

Junior Camp Specialists

Responsibilities:

Junior Camp is looking for talented individuals to supervise groups of 4-9 year olds (grades K-4) in specific camp activities. These specialties include:

Music // Science & Nature
Drama // Dance // Arts & Crafts
Sports // Pioneering // Jewish Culture

Specialist will be responsible for helping to create an 8 week curriculum for a range of age groups and running their program. They are also expected to help during other daily camp activities (lunch, swim, trips, special events, etc).

Qualifications:
Specialists must be available for work every day of camp, from late June until mid August, plus mandatory orientation meetings prior to camp (all dates TBA). Previous experience and knowledge of the specific area of interest is required.

Previous teaching or camp experience a plus.

Junior Camp Unit Heads

Responsibilities:
Junior Camp is looking for talented individuals to serve in the role of Unit Head. Unit Heads will be responsible for overseeing one of our camp divisions. They will address problems, contact parents, administer first aid, organize paperwork, supervise staff, etc.

Unit Heads will also help to coordinate daily camp activities (lunch, swim, trips, special events, etc). In some cases, Unit Heads will travel on 2-day overnight trips, drive to local stores for supplies, travel to our Oceanside or Long Beach locations before or after camp, etc.

Qualifications:
Unit Heads must be available for work every day of camp, from late June until mid August, plus attend administrative meetings, pre-camp planning sessions, and mandatory orientations prior to camp.

Previous teaching or camp experience is required.

Explorers Counselors

Responsibilities:
• Supervise group of up to 15 9-11 year olds to our campgrounds, on day trips, and on three extended overnight trips.
• Participate enthusiastically in all camp events.
• Organize and direct campground activities (swim, sports, hiking, arts & crafts, etc.)
• Supervise campers on buses.
• Attend all staff meetings and training

Qualifications:
Senior Counselor - 20+ years old
Junior Counselor - 17+ years old

All staff must be available for work the whole summer, starting on the first day of camp (late June) and ending on the last (mid August), plus mandatory orientation meetings the 2 weeks prior to camp (all dates TBA). Previous teaching or camp experience a plus.

Administrative Staff for Voyagers Teen Travel/VIP Community Service

Responsibilities:
Responsibilities include supervising teens on all trips, and managing staff. Additional responsibilities will be determined by job title. Applicants need to be available for camp from late June to mid-August, and must be able to travel on extended overnight trips. Some winter/spring work and meetings will also be necessary.

Qualifications:
Ideal candidates will have experience working with adolescents in camp or youth group settings, and will be enthusiastic, empathetic and warm. A minimum of a BA degree in education, psychology, social work, camping or a related field is preferred. Candidates should have experience supervising staff, and must be able to work with an administrative team.

Counselors & Junior Counselors for Voyagers Teen Travel Camp

Responsibilities:
Applicants need to be available for camp from late June to mid-August, and will need to attend orientations in the evenings at the end of June. Counselors will need to supervise a group of up to eighteen 11-14 year olds on day trips, and on four extended overnight trips.

Qualifications:
Candidates must be at least 18 years old, and should have experience working with adolescents ages 12- 14. The ideal applicant will be enthusiastic, upbeat and able to serve as a role model to young teens.

Lifeguard and Swim Instructor

Responsibilities:
The JCC is looking for lifeguards and swim instructors to work with members of all ages.

Qualifications:
Lifeguards have to be American Red Cross and Nassau County Certified as well as CPR certified. Swim Instructors must have updated American Red Cross Water Safety Instructor Certification and CPR.
